Annabel Karmel's Cottage Pie

Annabel Karmel's Cottage Pie

I don’t know about you but I’m close to bringing out my winter woolies this week as it has definitely got colder.  When it’s wet and wintry outside, staying cozy indoors and cooking delicious homemade food with your children is a wonderful way to keep them entertained indoors without resorting to the television! I have selected some comforting yet nutritious and tasty recipes that you and your child will love making together.

Minestrone Soup

Minestrone Soup

One of my children’s favorites is minestrone soup with pasta. Great for when the weather gets cold. It can also be included in your child’s lunchbox in a thermos flask. This soup recipe is easy to prepare and can be made in less than 20 minutes.

Another hearty recipe to warm those tummies is Cottage Pie which a great one to prepare in advance and freeze.

There are still some delicious local fruits that are still in season such as blackberry and apple, my Apple and Blackberry Crumble is comfort food at its very best.  Whilst this fruit is in abundance why not make a couple of the puddings, you could add a bit of freshly grated nutmeg or dried ginger to the topping to have a bit of variety.  Then pop them in the freezer to keep you going through winter.

I hope everyone has a good Monday!
